Multicore Realtime extension for Windows

Build deterministic real-time applications using the KUKA/acontis multi-core real-time platform. First introduced in 1995 on Windows 95 this reliable and proven software was continously further developed until today for Windows 10 64-Bit. Multiple CPU cores can be used for the real-time part (SMP: Symmetric Multiprocessing)! 


More and more applications, especially in the Industrial Automation, Medical and Data Acquisition and Measurement Market require deterministic real-time behavior.
There are several different technical approaches how to extend the Windows operating system to accomplish these requirements.

  • simple real-time extensions based on a Windows Kernel Mode Driver. Disadvantages: proprietary development environment, uncommon debug environment, proprietary and restricted API, small amount of users
  • proprietary real-time extensions with Win32 API. Disadvantages: proprietary development environment, uncommon debug environment, restricted Win32 API, small amount of users
  • real-time extensions based on operating systems that are only used in conjunction with Windows real-time extensions. Disadvantages: proprietary development environment, uncommon debug environment, proprietary API, small amount of users
  • real-time extensions based on standard COTS Win32 based operating systems (e.g. CeWin, RTOS32Win)

Benefits when using a standard industrial real-time operating system as a Windows real-time extension:

Virtualisation and Realtime Hypervisor

Real-time virtualization for Windows based on the RTOS Virtual Machine Realtime Hypervisor. Support for 32-Bit as well as for 64-Bit guests. Multiple CPU cores can be used for Windows or Linux!
